Track and field prepares for Districts

Prior to Districts, the team hosted the 2A SD1 League Meet at Dick Manick Field on Thursday, May 8, and had plenty of top-five finishes. For the boys on the track, Aidan Bailey took second place in the Men's 400M with a time of 53.79, and Jason Miller took fifth in the 3000M with a time of 12:35.96. Quin May had a first-place finish in the Men's 110M Hurdles with a time of 18.42. In team competition for the boys, the quartet of Mickey Simpson, Braydon Top, Daylon Gutierrez and May took fifth in the Men's 4X100 Relay with a time of 47.55. Zion Ausmus, Spain Bocanegra, Zach Swinford, and Ethan Rigsby took fifth in the Men's 4x400 Relay with a time of 4:23.45.

In the field for the boys, Ryder Gorley, Ayden Blackshire, and Tristan Bocanegra took second, third, and fourth respectively in the Men's Javelin 800g with distances of 127 feet, 8 inches; 124 feet, 11 inches; and 120 feet. Gorley and Gavin Larson tied for first in the Men's High Jump with heights of 5 feet, 6 inches, and Top took fourth with a height of 5 feet, 4 inches. In the Men's Pole Vault, May, Gorley, and Rigsby took first, third, and fifth place respectively with heights of 11 feet, 8 inches; 10 feet, 6 inches; and 7 feet. Gutierrez took fourth in both the Men's Long Jump and Triple Jump with distances of 18 feet, 3.5 inches and 35 feet, 5 inches, while Larson took fifth in the Triple Jump with a distance of 33 feet, 11 inches.

For the girls, Mya Jensen took fourth place in the Women's 100M with a time of 14.20, while Natalie Baker and Paytan Ward took first and fifth place respectively in the Women's 200M with times of 28.26 and 30.14. In the Women's 400M, Lacey Willis took second with a time of 1:06.34, while Rainey Palm took third place with a time of 1:10.25. In the Women's 1500M, Baker took second with a time of 5:44.07, while Mai Lowe took fourth with a time of 6:20.67. Lowe took fifth in the women's 3000M with a time of 14:29.32. Caselyn Thompson took fourth place in the Women's 100M hurdles with a time of 21.58 and fifth place in the 300M Hurdles with a time of 1:02.06. In team competition for the girls, the quartet of Ward, Willis, Baker, and Jensen took second in the Women's 4X100 relay with a time of 52.89, while Josaphine Byrne, Maria Altafina, Grace Hadley, and Kiera Caceres took fourth with a time of 58.34. Willis, Palm, Baker, and Jensen took first in the Women's 4X400 Relay with a time of 4:30.40, while Caceres, Hadley,Thompson, and Angelica Todd took fifth in the event with a time of 5:19.90.

In the field for the girls, Jensen took fifth in the Women's Discus 1kg with a distance of 88 feet, 3 inches. In the Women's Javelin 600g, Julianna Erickson, Elle Tompkins, Izzy Mustola, and Sami Stebbins had second, third, fourth, and fifth-place finishes respectively with distances of 86 feet, 10 inches; 72 feet, 6 inches; 67 feet, 2 inches; and 65 feet, 10 inches. Willis took first place in the Women's high Jump with a height of 4 feet, 6 inches; and Erickson and Palm took third and fourth respectively in the Women's Pole Vault each with heights of 7 feet, 6 inches. Rounding out the field for the girls was Ward, who took fourth in the women's Long Jump with a distance of 14 feet, 1.5 inches.

The team had a 2A SD1 League Meet on Tuesday, May 13, but the results were not available at the time of press. The team will travel to Stayton Friday, May 16, for the Regis Community Twilight Meet. The first begins at 3 p.m.
