According to Clatskanie track and field Coach Tim Van Voorst, the wildcard entries have been posted for the Oregon State track meet and Clatskanie track and field has 12 athletes competing at the state meet in 13 different events this Thursday and Friday, at Eugene's Hayward Field.
For the girls, Lacey Willis will be participating in the High Jump and will also compete with her team in both the Women's 4X100 and 4X400 relays. Natalie Baker will be competing in both the Women's 200M and 400M, as well as with her team in the Women's 4X100 and 4X400 relays. Rainey Palm will be competing in the Women's Pole Vault, as well as with her team in the Women's 4X100 and 4X400 relays. Julie Erickson will also be competing in the women's Pole Vault, and Paytan Ward and Mya Jensen will complete their teams respectively in the women's 4X100 and 4X400 relays.
For the boys, Ryder Gorley and Quin May will be competing in the Men's Pole Vault. Gorley will also be competing in the Men's 300M Hurdles and with his team in the Men's 4X400 relay. Aidan Bailey will be competing in both the Men's 400M and 800M and with his team in the Men's 4X400 relay. Daylon Gutierrez will be competing in the Men's 200M and with his team in the Men's 4X400 relay. Finally, Ayden Blackshire will complete the team in the Men's 4X400 relay, while Braydon Top will be competing in the Men's High Jump.
These athletes were able to reach the state competition, largely in part to their performance this past weekend at the 2A-SD1 District Championships at Portland Christian High School. For the boys, Gutierrez took fourth in the Men's 200M with a time of 24.28, and Bailey took fifth in the Men's 400M with a time of 52.99. May took fifth in the Men's 110M Hurdles, while Gorley took fifth in the Men's 300M Hurdles. In team competition, the quartet of Bailey, Gorley, Blackshire, and Gutierrez took fifth in the Men's 4X400 relay with a time of 3:38.10. In the field for the boys, Top took third in the High Jump with a height of 1.79 meters, while May and Gorley took fourth and fifth respectively in the Men's Pole Vault with heights of 3.48 and 3.34 meters. For the girls, Willis took third in the Women's 100M with a time of 13.53, while Baker took first in the 200M with a time of 27.55. Baker also took second in the 400M with a time of 1:03.58, and Simone Ellen took fourth in the same event with a time of 1:07.68. The team of Ward, Jensen, Willis and Baker took second in the Women's 4X100 relay with a time of 52.13; and Jensen, Baker, Willis, and Palm took second in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:26.03. In the field for the girls, Jensen took fifth in the Women's Discus 1kg with a distance of 27.81 meters, and Willis took second in the High Jump with a height of 1.54 meters. Rounding out Districts, Palm and Erickson tied for third in the Women's Pole Vault with heights of 2.22 meters, while Ward took fourth in the Long Jump with a distance of 4.51 meters.
