United Way of Columbia County is excited to announce a collaborative Used Book Donation Drive in partnership with Natalia’s Books for Kids and several local businesses and organizations, including MonkeyTree, Snoopeeland, St. Helens Parks & Recreation Program, Beyond the Forest, Sass at Home, and Wauna Credit Union Scappoose. The drive, which began Aug. 7, will run to Tuesday, Sept. 9. The aim of this drive is to provide access to books for children in the St. Helens and Scappoose communities.
Throughout the donation period, community members are encouraged to drop off gently used children's books at designated locations. A dedicated team of volunteers will collect, clean, and redistribute these books to ensure they reach children who may not have easy access to reading materials.
“Reading is one of the most important building blocks in a child’s education and development,” said Claire Catt of United Way of Columbia County. “This initiative not only encourages literacy, but also strengthens our sense of community as we come together to support local youth. It reflects our ongoing commitment to early learning, alongside programs like the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and other early learning supports we offer throughout the year.”
Participating drop off locations for book donations include MonkeyTree, Snoopeeland, St. Helens Parks & Recreation Programs, Beyond the Forest, Wauna Credit Union Scappoose, and Sass At Home.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of children in our community. Join us in spreading the joy of reading and ensuring every child has the opportunity to discover the magic within the pages of a book. United Way of Columbia County is dedicated to improving lives and building a stronger community by connecting people and resources. Through various initiatives and partnerships, we strive to make a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.
