Deputy Piper Rutzer honored with Gene Bolstad Award

From left: Pacific County Sheriff Daniel Garcia, Wahkiakum County Commissioner Gene Strong, Deputy Piper Rutzer, Veteran Tanya Wammack, and Mike Allen of Marine Corps League Detachment 1228 were on hand at the Pacific County Courthouse Friday, Oct. 31, for the presentation of the Bolstad Award Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Every year, the local veterans group presents the Gene Bolstad Award to an outstanding local law enforcement officer in Pacific or Wahkiakum County. Rutzer was pronounced this year's recipient. According to Allen, Rutzer "was highly recommended by the general public for exemplary performance, excellence in personal interaction with county citizens, and for her life-saving efforts late last year."
