Last Saturday's Shop with a Cop event had a solid turnout, with plenty of help being offered across the board. Among those supporting the event were the Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Department, Grays River Fire Department, Washington State Patrol, Washington State Department of Corrections, Wahkiakum Co Emergency Management, NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Officer Young, Clatsop County Sheriff's Office, The Families of Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Office. Staff from Bank of the Pacific wrapped the presents for the event.
"I would like to thank all of the Officers and families for donating their time to help out with such a rewarding tradition we hope to carry on for years to come," said Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Office PIO (Public Information Officer) Rayden Grasseth. "Also, we can't thank Logan Britt and [the] staff at the Duck Inn [enough] for helping with providing breakfast for everyone year after year."
In attendance for the event was Puget Island resident Rene Westbrook, who said, "I had the honor of photographing the Shop with a Cop event this weekend...Such sweet kids...The officers represented all of what Wahkiakum offers. It was humbling to see the joy in the faces of these kids and the love from all the officers and everyone involved...The smelling of the lotion, and rolling of the eyes...To the bouncing of the balls, to the discussion of a game for the big brother, and that special something for mom and a shirt for dad...Those who wrapped gifts, those who helped with breakfast, those who just walked and talked to these kids. {I want to give a] special shout out to Logan and the Duck Inn for supplying breakfast. We love you for all your help in this event."
