Sheriff's Report

December 15 8:05 a.m. A driver on SR4 in Skamokawa called to report a vehicle driving erratically had almost hit several other drivers, possibly drunk. 11:25 a.m. A Skamokawa resident called to report that horses on a neighboring property appeared neglected. Deputies drove by and determined that the horses seemed to be getting their needs met. 12:09 p.m. A Grays River resident called to report that a mystery dog showed up on their porch. The Sheriff reunited the animal with the owners. 7:15 p.m. An elderly Cathlamet resident came to the Sheriff’s Office window complaining of a headache and confusion, but refused treatment. 10:53 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance transported an elderly Cathlamet resident to the hospital for a possible heart attack.

December 16 12:27 a.m. Deputies responded to reports of a fight and a potentially impaired driver at a Cathlamet residence, where they found an individual who had fallen down an embankment. The individual became combative when deputies attempted to assist them and was arrested. 4:13 a.m. A Cathlamet resident was transported to the hospital for abdominal issues. 8:35 a.m. A Driver on SR4 reported an erratic driver traveling eastbound was weaving near Nelson Creek Road. 9:48 a.m. The Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to transport an elderly Puget Island resident to the hospital for numbness in the arm. 2:31 p.m. A car went off the roadway and hit a power pole on E Birnie Slough Road. No injuries were reported. 3:28 p.m. A Wahkiakum County Jail inmate was transported to the hospital. 5:06 p.m. A Driver on Fernhill Road reported hitting a deer and is concerned the animal may be injured. 6:12 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report hearing coyotes howling and was worried it may be a pack close to the road. Deputies patrolled the area and heard coyotes but did not believe there was any immediate threat to the community.

December 17 12:09 a.m. PUD advised the entire county was out of power. 12:44 a.m. A power line was down on SR4, blocking both lanes near Maple Ridge Road. 12:45 a.m. A driver on SR4 reported a small slide and tree blocking both lanes in Skamokawa. 1:14 p.m. A tree was down, blocking both lanes on Altoona Pillar-Rock Road. 1:48 a.m. A tree was down blocking the intersection of Elochoman Valley Road and Crown Camp Road as well as near Mackinley Bridge Road. 2:28 2:28 a.m. A Puget Island resident called for assistance after becoming stuck in their power recliner during the power outage and struggling to sit up to breathe. 7:20 a.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that two unknown dogs had entered the property and killed their turkey. 3:10 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance and Sheriff’s deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident involving other people on Middle Valley Road and injuries were reported. 4:59 p.m. A driver on Main Street called to report that an unknown driver had backed into his vehicle while parked on the street. 11:33 p.m. A Cathlamet resident was transported to the hospital for chest pain.

December 18 10:01 a.m. A downed tree on SR4 was blocking both lanes in Grays River. 11:13 a.m. The Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to transport an elderly Cathlamet resident to the hospital who was having trouble eating and drinking. 4:08 p.m. Deputies contacted a Puget Island resident after receiving complaints that the dogs on the property lacked adequate shelter. Deputies told pet owners that the shelter they currently had for the animals was sufficient long-term and was hung up on after the pet owner said it was “good enough.” 12:02 p.m. There were trees and rocks reportedly coming down into the roadway on SR4 near Maple Ridge Road. 1:14 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported hearing an unknown alarm nearby. Deputies responded and could hear the alarm, but could not locate it. 1:25 p.m. A Naselle resident called to report that pigs were wandering the road on Upper Naselle Road. 2:17 p.m. A driver on SR4 hit a rock and had a flat tire near Maple Ridge Road. 5:09 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance transported a Cathlamet resident to the hospital for breathing troubles. 6:45 p.m. First responders cut down a low-hanging branch that was becoming a hazard on SR4 in Skamokawa. 6:48 p.m. A Skamokawa resident was transported to the hospital for lethargy.

December 19 11:37 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that an unknown individual was ringing the doorbell and pounding on her door. 8:22 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that the person selling them wood was shorting them on the order and was now arguing.

December 20 8:34 a.m. A Skamokawa resident was transported to the hospital for pain from a traumatic injury. 11:52 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident was transported to the hospital due to breathing problems. 12:27 p.m. The Grays River Ambulance transported a Rosburg resident to the hospital for nausea and vomiting. 12:45 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that their neighbor’s dog had gotten loose and that they were unable to contain it.

December 21 3:58 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance transported an elderly Cathlamet resident to the hospital due to illness.
