Longview Public Library to host session on hearing aids

The Longview Public Library invites community members to “Considering Hearing Aids? Learn About Your Options,” an informative session taking place on Thursday, April 9, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Hearing aids have advanced significantly in recent years, offering new features and more choices than ever before. This informal session, led by hearing advocate Heidi Crabtree, will provide an overview of current options, coverage considerations, and key factors to consider when selecting a device. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and learn in a welcoming, supportive environment.

This program also highlights an exciting new accessibility feature at the library: a recently installed hearing loop system in the Library Auditorium. The hearing loop transmits sound directly from a microphone into hearing aids and cochlear implants equipped with telecoil (T-coil) technology, delivering clear, amplified audio without background noise.

For those without T-coil-enabled devices, hearing loop receivers with headphones or earbuds will be available during events. The installation of the hearing loop is part of the library’s ongoing commitment to accessibility and inclusion. Over the coming year, the library will host a series of public presentations focused on understanding hearing loss, exploring assistive listening systems, and connecting community members with local and national support resources. Stay tuned for upcoming dates and topics.
