    The Wahkiakum Mule Track and Field team traveled to Napavine last Thursday and joined five other teams for a 2B league meet. The boys’ team earned 30 points and came in sixth place. The girls earned 59 points and came in third. Senior Austin Burns placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 25.73.     Wahkiakum Mule basketball player Shane Souvenir has been honored for his outstanding performance this past season. Souvenir, who moved into the post position for the first time this year, was a statistical leader in the Lower Columbia area. He averaged 22.5 points, 11 rebounds and 3.8 blocks per game. The 6'3" senior was named to the first-team all-Central 2B League team, and sports writers and editors from around the state named him the Class 2B League co-most valuable player.     The Mules baseball team split a doubleheader with Pe Ell at home on Friday. They won their first game 1-0. “Gunnar Blix pitched a complete game,” said Coach Kyle Hurley, “with two hits, seven strike outs and no earned runs.     Plagued by errors, the Wahkiakum Lady Mule softball team lost two games in a double header at home against Pe Ell last week. “It wasn’t pretty,” Coach Cindy Fudge admitted. She married Paul Giaver on March 17, 1958 in Seattle, after coming to the United States in 1954. They lived in Seattle, Port Angeles and Sedro Wooley prior to coming to Cathlamet in 1968.
