The Wahkiakum County Eagle - Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

It was honey harvest time at the Holmes homestead last week and family and friends showed up to help. On Thursday, Sara Maurer helped her dad Bill Holmes move the boxes from the hive, and her son Luke helped blow remaining bees from the boxes. The boxes were later moved indoors for extraction, where Suzanne Holmes' sister Vicki Black prepared frames for cap removal, before the frames went into the spinner to collect the honey. There were 17 friends and family on the scene, from age 6 on up, and plenty to do. Photos by Diana Zimmerman.
