Despite a couple early bumps, the Democratic Caucus went smoothly on Saturday morning in the multipurpose room at J.A.Wendt Elementary School. Like every other county in the State of Washington, Bernie Sanders was declared the winner, with 17 delegates to Hillary Clinton's two. Sanders gained 13 delegates out of a possible 15 on the east side of the county, where 110 people represented eight precincts. At a very crowded Skamokawa table, Clinton had only gotten one vote. Fifteen people showed up...

To the Editor: It was amazing that more than 100 voters were motivated to attend the Democratic caucus at the Cathlamet elementary school. Among them were several young first-time voters who deserve special thanks for setting aside weekend time to participate in our privilege/duty as American citizens. Two young men and a young woman even volunteered to be delegates – thank you Tyler Gorley, Connor Emlen-Petterson, and Bryanna Peek! Ms. O’Connor deserves praise for running a smooth event. As the months between now and November will det...
On Saturday, 39 Wahkiakum students put on two performances of the Missoula Children's Theatre production of Sleeping Beauty to the delight of family and friends. The character of the jester, played by MCT actor/director Alyssa Cooper, drove the action and was in most of the scenes. The students only have five days to learn their lines, songs and dances as well as cues and stage directions, and it works well. The villain Scarella curses Sleeping Beauty to touch a spindle when she turns 16 and...
HALF NICE--Easter weekend may not have been completely nice, but most of Saturday was, so the Lions Club Easter Egg hunt didn't happen in the pouring down rain. Actually, it didn't start getting wet until evening time here, so it was a pretty good day, and with so many events taking place, it was great to not have to wear boots and slosh around through the puddles. Easter Sunday saw some sunshine too, but it was quickly wiped out by heavy rains and hail, at least here in West Valley, so it was one of those mixed up days! The upcoming weather...

SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebrating birthdays from March 24-30 are Sharyl Iblings, Makenzie Anderson, Vance Miller...
