Members of the Cathlamet Town Council covered a lot of ground when they met Tuesday. Council members heard an update on water contract negotiations with Wahkiakum PUD; they acted on road and drainage issues; they tabled action on a pit bull ordinance, and they reviewed results of their 2014 logging program. John Lopez, of Cathlamet, had a serious accident and severely burned his leg. He is in the hospital in Portland. The doctors also discovered tumors on his liver. To The Eagle: After reading in The Eagle that the Town of Cathlamet had reached a water sale agreement with the PUD, I contacted Town Hall to get a copy of the new contract. To my surprise, I was told that a draft contract did not yet exist, that the contract wasn’t even on the last meeting agenda and that no documentation was provided to the public or to the town council before the decision was made. In March, students at Wahkiakum High School will get to experience “The Theatre” when the Seattle Shakespeare Company comes to town.
