    Allen Cameron Edmondson, 86, passed away June 29 at his Puget Island home. The son of Allen Candler Edmondson and Josie Williams Edmondson, he was born December 21, 1927, in Pearl River, Louisiana. He helped operate the family store and farm in Slidell, La. He served in the Army in WWII and was stationed in Adak, Alaska. After the war, he used the GI Bill to graduate with a degree in journalism from Louisiana State University.     The Julia Butler Hansen Swimming Pool opened June 16 with little fanfare. The pool was painted in preparation for this year’s opening, Manager Duncan Cruickshank reported in an email.     From 15 through 19 June, the Chinook Indian Nation will travel down the Lower Columbia River Water Trail in traditional canoes.
