Carol Jean Albrecht, 76 of Woodland, died May 25, 2011 in Longview after a six year fight against cancer. She was born October 29, 1935 to Francis and Maud (Harris) Tower in Raymond. She married Fred Albrecht there on March 1, 1958. He survives her. She was educated at Centralia Community College and worked as an accounting technician at a Veterans Administration Hospital until she retired in 1995. In a special meeting Tuesday, the Cathlamet Town Council confirmed the hiring of a new manager for the Julia Butler Hansen Municipal Swimming Pool. She is Cathlamet resident Kayla Pugh. She was head life guard at the pool last year, working for former manager Lynette Ledgerwood. Pugh previously worked as a lifeguard seven years in Clatskanie. The section of road lies on a dike separating the Columbia River and the Julia Butler Hansen National Wildlife Refuge for the Columbian White-tailed Deer. Wahkiakum PUD commissioners voted to accept the residential exchange agreement with Bonneville Power Administration at their regular meeting Tuesday, for the second time. On April 7, the commissioners voted to approve the agreement which changes the way investor owned utilities’ rates are calculated. April 12 The Wahkiakum Mules golf team beat the Adna Pirates in a duel match by a lower score of 176 to 209 in a home match at Skyline Golf course in Cathlamet. The Mules bested their season efforts by 9 strokes while bringing their season record to 6-0. NICE--Once again we had half of a nice weekend, as Saturday saw some sun but there were also rain showers here and there. However, sunshine prevailed all day Sunday.
