Howies' Corner Coffeehouse now the Tall Tree Cafe This week marks the closure of Howies Corner Shop. After three years on Main Street, Mark and Deb Howie have sold their business. The coffeehouse was purchased by Nathan McBride, a local law enforcement officer, who has renamed the business the Tall Tree Cafe. The Wahkiakum Lady Mules captured the KM Trophy December 27 with a 53-35 win over the visiting Naselle Comettes. The Mules outscored the Comettes 18-5 to break open a close game. Craig B. Haataia, 41, died at his Naselle, Washington residence on December 24, 2012 of natural causes. Craig was born in Longview, Washington on June 10, 1971, the son of Gilbert and Sarah (Lorton) Haataia. He was proud of his Quinault Indian and Finnish ancestry. Craig graduated from Naselle High School where he played baseball, basketball and football for the Comets.
