    The number of confirmed cases of covid-19 in Wahkiakum County remained at six as of Tuesday, with 515 tests having been conducted so far. Numbers continue to rise in counties surrounding Wahkiakum, including Pacific County where they are up to 77 positive cases, 12 of which are considered active. In Cowlitz County, they have had 584 confirmed cases, 77 remaining active. Across the river in Columbia County, there have been 145 cases. Seven are currently infectious.     Wahkiakum County Port 1 Commissioners approved a bid for a project to build a viewing dock at the Elochoman Slough Marina and signed an interlocal agreement with Wahkiakum County for the use of County Line Park at their meeting last Thursday. The port has received a $16,000 grant from the Marine Resource Committee to build a 20’ x 40’ viewing dock at the marina, which recently went out to bid. Two local contractors responded.     Beaver Creek resident Matthew Johnson, 39, was arrested on September 2 and charged with attempted arson in the second degree. On August 29, the Skamokawa Fire Department, the Skamokawa ambulance, deputies, and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) responded to a brush fire near Vista Park. According to a deputy’s report, there were four locations where fires had been extinguished, including an area, 30x30 feet, which drew near the shop building at Vista Park.     Wahkiakum County commissioners discussed vaccines and looked ahead to budget preparation for 2021 when they met Tuesday.     The Wahkiakum County PUD Board of Directors met Tuesday morning to listen to reports and approve a grant application, a preliminary budget, and a new reserve fund level.     The Wahkiakum County Building and Planning Department has announced that effective at 12 noon, Tuesday, Sept. 9, all outdoor burning is banned in Wahkiakum County, including recreational fires in private fire pits and fire pits in designated campgrounds, such as those typically found in local, county, and state parks and in commercial campgrounds.     Wahkiakum County Port 1 held a rate and budget workshop on Tuesday afternoon to go over proposed changes and discuss possible policies regarding cancellations. The biggest proposed change was for the barbecue RV sites, which were $395 per month this year, but could go up to $650.
