Of course, we couldn't have two perfect days in a row, but at least part of Sunday was decent after another frosty start. Here's hoping we have more sun than rain this week, as my ole bones could sure use a warm up! WINNERS--Another great thing happened Saturday morning, as our Lady Mules fought back real hard and after a neck and neck, hair raising, blood pressure raising game, wound...

WEEKEND ENDS--We certainly had a couple of batches of heavy snow around West Valley this past week, but at least when I woke up Saturday morning, the sun was shining and temperatures were above freezing and that certainly was a huge improvement over the 19 degrees we'd had the day before that! I have to say, I was pretty happy to see temps in the forties and "just rain" on Sunday morning as that really helped turn things green once again, instead of solid white!! Of course, I did start to worry a bit when late that evening, we saw a snow begin...

Elizabeth and Rob have four children, and Rob currently teaches at the Naselle School. My most sincere condolences to this fam...
SNOW RETURNED--We woke up to a light layer of snow in West Valley this past Sunday morning, but places just a bit higher in elevation saw several inches of snow come down. KM had several inches and the Beaver Creek area saw a good amount too, which was ideal for sledding and snowboarding, so it just depended on where you were as to how much you got. We woke up Monday morning to temperatures in the low 20s, so yep, it was nippy. While we had become accustomed to a "mild winter," this just goes to show us that winter is not yet over and I've even...
It looks like Mother Nature has decided to cooperate with the calendar and as I complete this column I watch big puffy snowflakes falling outside and actually sticking to the ground. My young dog, (almost 3 years old and 150 pounds) is rooting around in the snow trying to figure out what’s going on. Quite comical to watch. On the other hand, all the daffodils are about to bloom and we are now getting freezing temps. Go figure. News from Naselle: Sports for the upcoming week: The Naselle high school boys basketball team will compete on S...
State shellfish managers have tentatively scheduled razor clam digs through April on four ocean beaches. Final approval of all scheduled openings at Copalis, Mocrocks, Long Beach and Twin Harbors beaches will depend on whether results of marine toxin tests show the clams are safe to eat. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) typically announces whether a dig will go forward about a week before the opening, said Dan Ayres, coastal shellfish manager for the department. No digging is allowed before noon during evening digs and...
