On October 14 at 10:00 a.m., Billie Bevers, Washington State University Master Gardener, will present a workshop on how to evaluate mason bees cocoons for disease. WET, WET--As this week began, we had quite a bit of rain and wind too! With all the dry forests around us and the fires raging in so many parts of the PNW, it was really a welcome relief, and it beat the snow that Montana got, as I'm not quite ready for that yet! Tornados? Oh my goodness, what a weather pattern we had this past week. The weather has gone crazy all over. I was sitting on the couch on Monday with thunder and lightning all around us, hail falling and three 100+ pound dogs in my lap. They are terrified of the noise. Wahkiakum High School participated in the United Way Day of Caring last week. "We participated with Cowlitz county and then came back to Wahkiakum to share the love of literacy with the grade school," said Principal Stephanie Leitz. "The Georgia Pacific mill at Wauna supported the event by giving each child in the grade school a gift bag. The Family Health Center has been looking for the right people to staff the Wahkiakum Clinic in Cathlamet for years. A dedication ceremony has been planned for the memorial for local men and women involved in the commercial fishing industry on September 24 at 1 p.m. at the Elochoman Slough Marina.
