Well, as I am sitting here in the waiting room of St. John’s, I decided that this is as good a place as any to work on writing my article for this week. I have lots of company waiting for their loved ones to have surgery. I am here with my sister, Diane who is having a hip replacement. She will be off work for several weeks, so if you don’t see her at Okie’s, that is the reason. News from Naselle: Sports calendar for the Naselle Comet teams this week include: Friday, the 23rd-boys basketball at Wishkah at 4:30 p.m. and girls basketball at Wi...

A recognition of the instability of an individual’s living arrangements is critical in defining the term homeless. There is more than one official definition of homelessness. Health centers funded by the U.S. Department of H...
ANOTHER WEEK--By the looks of it, this year is going to fly by like the last one. We have spent this past week in a virtual fog as both evenings and mornings were thick with the stuff, at least down this way. Our soggy fields seem to "grow" the fog and there were only hours between the morning fog and the evening fog, as most of the time, the evening fog was showing up in the late afternoon, so we were "in a fog" most of the time. The dangerous part of that was that the deer and elk seemed to be using it as a time to cross the roadways, which...

News from Naselle: Looks like the biggest news from Naselle this week comes in the fact that SR 4 now has a detour allowing folks to eliminate a long drive in order to get to the coast. If you still have questions about the roads and detours, I’m sure you could contact the Pacific County Sheriff’s office or Washington State Patrol. It looks like an expensive fix to take care of the washout that occurred during our last rain event. Sports calendar for the Naselle Comet teams this week includes: Friday, JV girls basketball with Astoria at 3:30 p....

News from Naselle As I write this column, I can see a young eagle perched in a dead tree looking down at the flooded fields, hoping for an easy meal. We are flooded in with about three feet of water over the driveway. Oh well, such is life in our little piece of heaven. We were pretty much prepared for this high water event, and I hope our neighbors and friends are safe and dry. Guess I’ll bake some cookies and wait for the water to go down. News from Naselle Not such good news from Naselle as far as traveling in and out of that area. Lots of r...
