After taking some time off for some necessary repairs, Redmen Hall had its grand re-opening on Saturday from 12-4 p.m., with refreshments and a net mending demonstration from local fishermen Kent Martin and Gary Emery. Martin shared his technique as a small crowd gathered around him. He made cuts to a damaged section of a net and then with a measure of his eye, began to work the new line in with the old. It was a skill he picked up and began practicing at the age of 14 and it has served him...
As I finish up this column, the temperature is climbing and it looks like a really warm day for this Tuesday. Personally, I prefer the cooler days, but as long as it doesn’t last too long, I guess I can tolerate it. I love the sudden warm showers, then sunshine and even some rainbows on occasion. It’s time to make hay though, guess I shouldn’t jinx the haymakers. Fourth of July is tomorrow (Friday), and hopefully many will be celebrating with family and friends. Please remember to take special pains with your pets and keep them safe. So many...

T'WAS GREAT--I hope you enjoyed the first weekend of Summer, as most people gave it an A-plus. It was sunny and beautiful and was everything most folks hope for in the way of Summer weather! However, while we had three very nice days to kick off our new season, it has turned very wet as I finish off this column, and it looks to be wet most of the week. I guess we can look at it as time where we get to take a break from all that yard work without feeling guilty, as it's just too wet to do it right now! THIS WEEKEND--This is the big weekend of sa...

NOT SO GREAT--As this work week begins, it's a little bit wet out there, and at times, it really pours. At least there were a few breaks in the weather, but they were pretty short lived. They say drier weather is coming, so by the time you read this, you may be enjoying a very nice, dry day again. Let's hope so! Another thing that is not so great, is the fact that the internet was down all over the place. It's amazing how dependent we get on our computers for gathering information and sending communications, so when it's out, it's a huge mess....
