The Foreclosure Fairness Act, passed in 2011, was designed to help homeowners and their lenders explore possible alternatives to foreclosure and reach a resolution when possible. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking public comments on its draft environmental assessment of Caspian tern habitat reduction on East Sand Island in the Columbia River estuary near Chinook. The Corps proposes to reduce the Caspian tern nesting area on East Sand Island from 1.58 to 1.08 acres to decrease the number of nesting pairs on the island and reduce tern predation on endangered juvenile salmon and steelhead. WILD ONE--Last weekend was a pretty crazy one, with thunder, heavy downpours, strong winds and even a sun break or two on Saturday but pretty much a foggy, rain fest on Sunday with tree limbs coming down and horrible visibility on the roads; a good time to stay indoors.
