Fourdays left for disaster assistance

Only four days remain for those affected by the November 2-11 floods to register for disaster assistance from the state or the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The deadline to register is 5 p.m. Monday, which is consistent with the application period for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). However, the Cowlitz County Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) will close its doors at 5 p.m. on Friday.

To date, more than $4,090,000 in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster recovery assistance have been disbursed. Currently, 2,159 people have applied for FEMA assistance and 1,119 applicants for assistance were seen at Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs).

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved more than $7.6 million in low-interest disaster loans to Washington residents and businesses affected by the severe storms and flooding which occurred November 2-11 in 11 Washington counties. Most of the SBA DLOCs which were opened after the DRCs closed will remain open until February 12.

Washington residents or businesses must register by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech or hearing impaired, or registering on line at http://www.fema.gov.
