Recreational vehicle (RV) donations are being sought for nine families whose RVs were destroyed in the winter storms of late 2006 and early 2007.
The donation drive is sponsored by the Washington Emergency Management Division (WEMD) in conjunction with the state’s voluntary, non-profit and fair-based organizations.
“These nine families or 21 individuals can no longer live in their recreational vehicle homes because of winter storm damage, and we’d like to help them in some way,” said Tony Raines, WEMD human services program manager.
Raines said these individuals are not eligible for federal disaster aid and have limited financial means to repair or rebuild their recreational vehicles.
He said WEMD and the voluntary, non-profit agencies are seeking recreational vehicles which are road worthy, have clear ownership titles, and include bathroom facilities. He said a similar program in Oregon helped seven residents who had been flooded out of an RV park in November.
“We think there are some people or businesses who can help some Washington disaster victims who are struggling to rebuild homes that sustained heavy flood and wind storm damage,” he said.
Persons wishing to help with RV donations should contact Tony Raines of WEMD at 360-486-5038, desk, or 253-426-2745, cell.
