The Lower Columbia College Vocal Jazz Ensemble and LCC Jazz Ensemble will present their free Jazz Night concert on March 19, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 206 Cowlitz Way in Kelso.
They’ll perform songs in the style of Count Basie, Harry Connick, Jr. and Artie Shaw, along with other Big Band greats. Director Joel Heredia has chosen a wide-ranging program, from Fascinating Rhythm by George and Ira Gershwin to The Rolling Stones’ Jumpin’ Jack Flash.
Soloists will include: Rick Kemp, trumpet, on Fascinating Rhythm; Darren Ertzberger, trombone, Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most; Ciara Hunter, soprano, Taking a Chance on Love; Katrina Rodreguez, piano, Gentle Rain; Rebecca McGuire, clarinet, A Tribute to Artie Shaw; and Laura Barsalou, baritone sax, The Bari Things You Do.
