Mules kick Loggers

The Wahkiakum Mules thumped the visiting Knappa Loggers on Monday.

Becky Hoven had three hits in three trips to the plate and knocked in three runs. Stephanie Johnson was 2/2 and drew two walks.

"Hitting was the key," said Mule Coach Cindy Fudge. "Becky Hoven was a hitting machine. Paige Kehrli shined with two doubles and a single. Courtney Helms took the cover off the ball with a monster triple; she also contributed two RBI's; Rachel Fudge chipped in, pounding two hits and three RBI's."

Fudge also had praise for pitcher Shelby Deaton. She struck out five and allowed only two hits.

"Shelby had some great defense behind her from Brittney Robbins and Amelia Nguyen," Fudge said. "Amanda Collier ran the bases very well, and our bench was also super spirited."

The Mules are at Adna on Friday and at Winlock on Monday. They entertain Morton on Tuesday and Napavine April 30.
