Mules fall to White Pass

April 26, 2007

The White Pass Panthers won a fastpitch doubleheader with the Wahkiakum Mules last Friday in Randall.

The Panthers blanked the Mules 8-0 in the first game.

"Although we lost, the team had some really good moments," said Coach CIndy Fudge. "Rachel Fudge led us on the mound, striking out seen batters and allowing only six hits.

"Brittney Robbins (second base) turned a nice double play to Becky Hoven. Amelia Nguyen, Amanda Collier and Paige Kehrli did a great job in the infield. Kehrli made a great catch and then threw out a runner at home."

Courtney Helms and Rachel Fudge each had two hits.

The Panthers won the second game 9-6.

Helms pounded a triple and a double and added two singles. Hoven smashed a double.

"Courtney was on fire at the plate," Coach Fudge said. "Hoven played a great defensive game; Robbins turned two double plays, one unassisted; Halie Boyce did a great job at the plate and in the field, and Shelby Deaton went the distance on the mound."

Tuesday home game with Adna was postponed to Wednesday (yesterday) because of rain. The Mules are at Morton Friday and at Napavine Monday. They entertain Mossyrock on May 2.
