WSU Wahkiakum County Extension and community volunteers are offering leadership building workshops this summer.
The series will be kicking off June 16, 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the River Street Meeting Room (25 River Street) in Cathlamet.
Community members are invited to enjoy lunch and a one hour workshop on leadership, and a one hour hands-on program on communicating your ideas with new technologies, including digital photography and web blogging.
Workshop facilitators are working from the LeadershipPlenty program. This program recognizes that leadership comes from recognizing the wealth of capacities that people in the community possess, and that reinvigorating civic leadership with new energy and diverse experience strengthens communities.
Developed and supported by the PEW Partnership for Civic Change, Leadership Plenty is a national program whose goal is to identify, encourage and equip citizens from all parts of the community to play a more visible role in civic problem-solving. Workshops cover:
• Finding leaders within;
• Identifying community assets;
• Managing groups for results;
• Making meetings work better;
• Managing conflict;
• Building strategic partnerships;
• Moving from talk to action;
• Valuing evaluation; and
• Communicating for change.
Four to six WSU Continuing Education Credits and 60 Clock Hours are available for the workshops at minimal charge.
Future workshop dates will be announced soon. Meals will be provided and fuel and childcare/eldercare expenses are reimbursed. To reserve your spot, call Carrie Kennedy at WSU Wahkiakum County Extension, 360-795-3278.
