The Julia Butler Hansen Municipal pool has opened and offers pool activities such as open swims and lessons.

The Cathlamet Woman's club feels it is important for every child in Wahkiakum County to learn to swim, so again this year, as several years in the past, swimming lesson scholarships will be offered to low income families.

Applications will be available at the pool. The funds are limited to low income families.

"The is an effort to make sure our young children have a chance to learn a skill that will always enhance a life lived by the river," said club representative Charlene Jeffers.
