The historic Deep River Church will have another series of summer events beginning on July 8 with the Finn Fest Community Choir from Naselle.
Each summer the Wahkiakum Community Foundation sponsors events at the little "Church in the Wildwood" to raise funds for maintaining the building, listed on the National Historic Register. While not an active church with a congregation, it is a popular spot for weddings and special events. Fully restored in 2004, it continues to be a true "Sunday Sanctuary" for those who drive to the rural area of Deep River.
This summer's schedule will include the Finn Fest Community Choir on July 8; St. James Episcopal Church from Cathlamet for vespers on July 15; and Skamokawa Methodist will present music and worship on July 22. On August 12, the Spiral Stage Theatre Group from Vancouver will present a two person play, "Love Letters" as well. All events start at 3 p.m. and all, except the play, are offered for a donation. Tickets for the play are $12 and will be available at the door or can be purchased by calling (360) 465-2414.
