The Town of Cathlamet is looking for volunteers to help build pathways between Erickson Park’s parking lot, the central pavilion, and the skateboard pad to make the facilities more accessible.

The Council appropriated $4,000 for materials for the 2007 fiscal year, with the understanding that volunteers would do the actual construction.

“Our Town has a number of significant projects in various stages of implementation,” commented Mayor Dick Swart. “Virtually all our projects require the Town to partner with other agencies, the private sector, and individual citizens, to finance them. Given our small tax base, that is how to get things done. The park pathways project is no different. The Council is very hopeful that some skilled folks will step up in August before school starts and the real rainy weather descends, ” Swart said.

The project will require persons capable of laying out the paths, grading the earth, constructing wooden forms, spreading the gravel base, and pouring and smooth-finishing the concrete.

Volunteers with experience in the building trades and general labor are especially sought as crew-leaders and key workers. Donations of backhoe time, form materials, base gravel, and concrete will help the Town stretch its limited materials budget. People interested in volunteering labor or donating materials are urged to contact Kerrie McNally at Town Hall, 795-3203.
