Reportage tells of tropical quest

To most people, feathers are feathers, but to connoisseurs of fowl, rare feathers hold an enchanting allure.

Adventure in Borneo tells the true story of one man's quest to find rare Bornean Peacock Pheasants.

Written by Wahkiakum County resident Jolan Durrah, the book tells the adventures of Daniel James on the tropical island of Borneo in search of the rare bird.

The book is Durrah's first. "It's all true," she said last week in introducing it to The Eagle.

The telling is honest, from vivid descriptions of flora and fauna to the surprise of boat traveling companions when Dan lost the battle to control the effects of jungle induced illness.

Readers will come away with an appreciation for tropical jungle, its occupants, and the threats that face them.

Durrah will sign copies of the book this Saturday afternoon at the Bald Eagle Fest streetfair.
