Grange News

Summer time is Fair time and the Cowlitz County Fair will be open to the public on July 30 through August 2. I visited the Fairgrounds yesterday while assisting with setting up the Wahkiakum County Grange Display Booth. Many people were busy bringing in items for judging which started Tuesday. The theme this year is "Celebrate 2008."

The Wahkiakum County Fair's theme this year is "Locally Grown for 100 Years" and will begin setting up the week of August 18 with the Fair open to the public on August 21, 22 and 23. Once again the Grange Food Booth will be in full swing beginning with breakfast on Thursday morning. We will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday - please come to the Grange food booth while you are at the fair. Reminder! You still have time to gather your beautiful flowers, vegetables, photography, craft, sewing, needlework and baking items to enter. Take a few minutes to review the fair handbook for the entry schedule and then get your items to the fair. It is always more fun for everyone when the judges have a variety of items in each class. I know that we have many very talented folks in our county, added to the many winners from our Grange contests, so please support all the hard work by our County fair board, the staff and all the wonderful volenteers by entering your special talent at the fair.

Grangers involved in the operation of the Grange Food Booth at the fair will be meeting at the Grays River Grange Hall at 10 a.m. on August 4 for our operation review. If you can work in the booth this year, please let somone from the Skamokawa or Grays River Granges know what day and time you will be available so we will be able to complete our schedule. Thanks for all your wonderful support - see you at the fair!
