Shelby Deaton hit a hard slam for a point in the Wahkiakum Lady Mule volleyball team's 3-0 season opening victory on Tuesday. Photo by Rick Nelson. The Wahkiakum Lady Mule volleyball team opened the 2008 season with a 3-0 win over the visiting Warrenton Lady Warriors.

The Mules won three close games 25-15, 25-23, 25-22. Shelby Deaton and Paige Kehrli served well, Sarah Doumit was strong at the net, and freshman Blaine Land started and played well at the net.

The Mules head to Yakima Friday for a tournament. On Monday, they entertain Raymond, and on September 18, they'll play the Lady Mule alumni.
