N-GRVHS seniors are on their way

 


Naselle/Grays River Valley High School held a commencement ceremony Saturday for its Class of 2009.

Salutatorian Rebecca Rostad made the welcome address, and Toni Mullins gave the valedictorian's address. Rob Dalton presented the faculty address.

Of the 24 seniors in the class, 20 will go to college or technical school; two will enter the work force, and two will enter the armed forces.

Following is a list of class members, their awards, and their plans:

Jacquelyn Anderson Marasigan--She will enter the work force.

Mercedes Barnes--Career and Technical Education Award; Advanced Math Award. She will attend Clark Community College.

Alexander Bennett--He will attend Seattle Pacific University.

Caleb Corona--He will attend Centralia Community College.

Rolland Day--He will attend Bates Technical College.

Emma Fauver--She will attend Mt. Hood Community College.

Nathaniel Finch--He will attend Clatsop CC.

Risa Fletcher--She will attend Western Washington University.

Stephan Griss--He will attend Clatsop CC.

Nicholas Hines--He will enter the US Army.

Chris Houston--He will attend Lower Columbia College.

Jerrica Juarez--She will attend Clatsop CC.

Shelby Leeland--American Legion Citizenship Award; Wendy's National High School Heisman Award; Elenora Hillis Award; Drama Award; Publications Award; Senior Projects. She will attend Pacific Lutheran University.

Toni Mullins--Secondary School Principals' Award; Washington State Honors Award; US Air Force Math and Science Award; John Philip Sousa Award; Publications Award; Calculus II Award; English IV Award. She will attend Western.

Tylor Nortrup--He will attend Clatsop CC.

Robert Romaine--He will enter the work force.

Thomas Rose--He will attend Feather River College in California.

Rebecca Rostad--Secondary School Principals' Award ; Washington State Honors Award; US Air Force Math and Science Award; Information Technology Award; Science Award; Calculus II Award. She will attend Western.

Marcus Sanchez--He will attend Western.

Gabriel See--He will attend Bates TC.

Michael Shirley--He will enter the US Army.

Conor Smith--Principal's Leadership Award; Legion Citizenship Award; Wendy's National High School Heisman Award; NHS Musical Achievement Award; Bob Chamberlain Award; Washington State Honors Award; Drama Award; Contemporary World Problems Award. He will attend Seattle Pacific.

Tyler Smith--He will attend MERTS Center/CCC.

Nathan Sultemeier--National School choral Award; Senior Projects Award. He will attend LCC.

Graduating with high honors, 3.75 or higher grade point average, were Leeland, Mullins, Rostad and Connor Smith.

Graduating with honors, a 3.2-3.74 GPA, were Barnes, Bennett, Fauver, Fletcher, Griss, Sanchez, See, and Shirley.
