What's Happening at the Fair?

August 20, 2009

Well the wait is finally over. After months of planning and hard work, our 101st fair celebration has now begun! Grab your family and head on down as this year we’ve pulled out all the stops. The Model-T races are back for their second year and the competition is fierce. You won’t want to miss the final race on Saturday at noon.

This year to help families get the most out of the fair I’ve included an insert in today’s Eagle, featuring the fair’s schedule of events. We have some old favorites such as COSMO the balloon wizard and Kristi Nebel and the Celluloid Cowboys but also some new talents including PRESTO the magician and local artist Greg Parke.

Tonight (Thursday) is the Karaoke contest with the prize of $100. Entry is only $5 so if you think you’ve got what it takes, come down and strut your stuff!

For our 101st celebration we’ve teamed up with the Wahkiakum Community Network for the first ever Mechanical Bull Ride! Fun for any age, come and test your strength and see how long you can survive. There will be competitions for each group with a champion announced at the end of fair. Please note that if you are under the age of 18 you will need a waiver form signed by a parent before riding the mechanical bull.

With a sparkling new arena, sunshine in the forecast and more exhibitors than ever before, the phoenix has definitely risen.
