Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Next Tuesday will mark the official opening of the newly established Game Land Toy Bank in Wahkiakum County.
Funded by local residents Marty and Sue Kuller, this new non-profit organization was set up to allow children from low-income families access to a wide range of games and toys.
Operating as a game and toy library, the Kullers have teamed up with the Helping Hand Food Bank and the Wahkiakum Community Foundation, opening the Game & Toy Bank every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wahkiakum fairgrounds.
The Kullers are currently the sole donors and rely on local volunteers to run the organization, but are hopeful local businesses and residents will step forward with donations. Inspired by a local news story, the Kullers decided to take action, filling a gap within our community services.
"After I was unable to work full time I decided to give back to the community and felt providing games and toys to children would be a great way to lend support," said Sue Kuller.
The Game Land Toy Bank accepts new and used game and toy donations. Financial donations can also be made, allowing funding for new items to be purchased.
