C. Fred Heim

 


A graveside service was held for C. Fred Heim of Myrtle Point, Ore. on June 12, 2010 at Bunker Hill Cemetery in Longview.

Fred was born December 18, 1902 in Wilderswil, Switzerland, the son of Fred and Madelina Heim. He died June 8, 2010 in Coquille Ore. at the age of 107.

He came to America in March of 1923 and worked in the dairy business until 1955.

He married Rena Mae Howard on February 26, 1931. They owned and operated the Eufaula Grocery Store in Longview from 1955-1962. From 1966-1969 they ran a dairy farm in Cathlamet then retired and lived in Bunker Hill until 1990 when they moved to Myrtle Point. Fred was also a substitute rural mail carrier in Longview from 1955-1966.

He was a member of the Portland Swiss Association, attending meetings and functions since his arrival in the US.

He is survived by his daughter Madeline Smeltzer of Baker City, Ore .; son Lawrence and Patricia Heim of Tigard, Ore .; son Andrew and Shirley Heim of Myrtle Point, Ore .; daughter Elizabeth and Jim Enbusk of Longview; son John Heim of North Bend, Ore .; son-in-law Elmer Gaddis; 22 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rena Mae; son Fredrick Heim and daughter Gloria Gaddis.

Arrangements were under the direction of Amling Schroeder Funeral Service, Myrtle Point, Ore.
