Positive experience received at marina

August 12, 2010

To The Eagle:

A big thank you to Jackie Lea and Paula Cothren for the opportunity to have a vendor booth at the Marina during the recent Bald Eagle Celebration. We were directly opposite the enclosed area and we sold garden spinners and wood art. We were very pleased that our products were so well received.

One of the nicest things we experienced, while sitting in our booth, was to have conversations with all of the folks who stopped by, especially the out of town RVers and boaters. We were delighted to hear all the positive comments from especially the boaters. Many spoke of the nice cozy size and cleanliness of the marina and surrounding area. We were amazed at all of these unsolicited comments and felt that the Port staff would like to hear about them

When the July 29 issue of The Eagle arrived, we were disturbed to read the letter to the editor from Robert T. Platter. We found his comments to be 180 degrees from the dozens of those we had received. We were also appalled at his threats to contact Washington State Human Rights Commission, and the Portland Yacht Club.

We both agree that perhaps it would be best if Mr. Robert Platter find a different marina moorage for his boat.
