Keep It Local Columbia County offers incentives to shop local

Keep It Local Columbia County’s (KILCC) annual Wonderland holiday campaign is back and in full swing with more than 100 businesses participating. The seasonal effort, which runs until Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, is designed to encourage county residents to shop local and support small business during the holiday season.

As in prior years, the “Wonderland Card” is a fun way to try to turn dollars into rewards. Every $10 spent at participating locations equals one card stamp and, once filled and turned in, is eligible via a drawing to win more than 30 donated prizes. A prize of $3,000 is a new addition to this year’s prize package. Additionally, “The Bigfoot Trail” can be found at more than 95 businesses. Participants need to find and scan eight footprints using the free “Columbia County, OR” mobile app to redeem for a free collectible ornament (while supplies last) and be entered to win $500.

A new addition to the “shop local” holiday campaign is the “Columbia County E-Gift Card,” an initiative that will be available year-round. Approximately 35 local businesses have signed-up so far to participate in the gift card program with more being added. The basic premise acts like any other e-gift card program by entering the preferred dollar amount and recipient information.

“[People] can spend the money in three different ways,” said CET Small Business Specialist Sierra Trass. “Apple Pay or Google Pay are the most common ones, and you can download it [to your wallet]. Or it gives you a 16 digit credit card. You can either print it out or show it to the participating businesses and they punch in that number. It's really savvy. We're really excited to kick that off with this year's holiday campaign. You can get your gift cards for your friends, family, or employees. It's going to be good to go, and it doesn't expire either.”
