Sheriff's candidate makes positive impact

To The Eagle:

This is a note about Sheriff's Candidate Jon Dearmore.

I was stopped by this deputy (for speeding, no less) some four years ago. We met and he made an impression on me. I was stopped again by this deputy (again, for speeding) a year after that! Many years have gone by.

No election, no race and nothing to write or complain about, just Jon Dearmore.

Needless to say I was not proud or happy about the events but Deputy Dearmore made such a positive impression on me that now four years later, I remember him quite distinctly still.

I can say he made an impression. He convinced me that maybe I might be able to be a better driver, maybe a better motorist and a better citizen.

I was not threatened by his presence, I was not intimidated nor angered by the speeding violation and stop. I was impressed so I support this man in his endeavor to lead his office because of the way he managed to convince me and managed to show me there is a positive way to lead in law enforcement.

I have no horse in whatever race there is between this deputy and anyone else. I don't vote there, I don't live there, I was only driving through. But I met someone who made a hell of an impression and for that reason I must tell you again as someone with no stake whatsoever in the local politics (and as a retired deputy from a larger California metropolitan area myself) that I have the utmost respect and admiration for this deputy in the way he discharges his duties of office.

It is the man and his demeanor that gets elected and with what I have experienced in the Northwest I must tell you that I am compelled to have Jon Dearmore's name linked with utmost professionalism and positive law enforcement personification.

I would hope you could find a way to convey this in your local news. He impressed someone who should not have been impressed and should have come away from a traffic stop less than a happy camper, but I was not. I was so impressed I feel the need to share my experience four years later and let anyone who can read know that this deputy is of the highest caliber and a quality act. You all need to hang on to this man.
