August 26, 2010



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

August 16--10:24 a.m. An East Birnie Slough man reported being harassed; a deputy was advised. 7:24 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a man possibly having a stroke. 9:24 p.m. A Wahkiakum officer contacted people at County Line Park in response to a complaint that the people were camping where camping is prohibited.

August 17--5:19 p.m. A person reported seeing a woman dragging a crying youth into an apartment in Cathlamet; an officer investigated and found no basis for an arrest or other action. 5:35 p.m. A caller reported people were getting ready to camp in the Cathlamet PUD substation parking lot; an officer made contact. 7:29 p.m. A caller reported a potential domestic assault at a Skamokawa residence; an officer investigated.

August 18--9:42 a.m. A caller said someone was camping in a vehicle at Strong Park in Cathlamet; the vehicle was gone when an officer arrived. 2:50 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley woman having breathing trouble. 4:22 p.m. A case of child abuse was reported; an officer is investigating. 5:32 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island man with a dislocated shoulder. 9:15 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a man with abdominal pain.

August 19--7:14 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported someone had been trespassing and spotlighting elk during the night. 9:08 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale man with back and hip pain. 9:39 a.m. A caller reported a car ran into the ditch along East Valley Road. 9:58 a.m. A caller reported a burglary at a residence on Nelson Creek Road. 10:38 a.m. Officers and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to Milepost 36.5 on SR 4 where two vehicles had collided; two people were flown to hospitals for treatment, and the Cathlamet ambulance transported a third person (see separate story in this edition). 3:55 p.m. A landlord asked that a deputy check on a house where the water and power had been shut off to check on the occupant's safety and health. 11:40 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported someone dressed in black clothing was stealing plants; officers were advised.

August 20--4:43 a.m. A Rosedale Heights resident said someone's dog barks at this time every night and awakens people. 9:40 a.m. A caller reported a case of defrauding an innkeeper; a deputy investigated. 11:03 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a neighbor's bull keeps breaking through a fence and bothering his animals. 11:26 a.m. A two-car collision was reported at the intersection of SR 4 an Main Street; the Cathlamet ambulance was dispatched to aid a person with a back injury. 1:21 p.m. A caller reported a sailboat had run aground between Nassa Point and Cape Horn. 10:34 p.m. A caller said people in a black vehicle were lighting fireworks around the Rosedale area.

August 21--7:25 p.m. A caller reported a man had thrown a woman into a television set; an officer responded but the man was gone by the time the officer arrived. 7:35 p.m. A caller reported an eight-year-old boy with a knife was chasing people at a Rosedale residence; an officer responded. 12:04 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a child injured in a fall at the county fair. 1:19 p.m. A Puget Island woman reported being harassed by her ex-husband; a deputy investigated. 7:40 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported being harassed; an officer investigated.

August 22--1:30 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported hearing noises outside a bedroom window from a possible prowler; a deputy responded and found no one around. 6:54 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale man with back pain.
