September 16, 2010

The Morton/White Pass Timberwolves cruised to a 36-13 win over the visiting Wahkiakum Mules last Friday in Morton.

The Timberwolves dominated the game with a punishing running attack that paved the way for 70 offensive plays. Meanwhile, the Mules managed just 38.

"I was amazed we were in the game at halftime," said Mule Coach Eric Hansen. "We couldn't stop their running game."

The Mules scored on a one-yard run by Cameron Elliott in the second quarter and on a 90-yard kickoff return by Wyatt Parker in the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Lars Blix completed four of 15 passes for 37 yards. Parker was the leading rusher with 33 yards.

Joel Nicolazzi led the Mule defense with 21 tackles. Elliott had 19, Kyle Bergquist 12 and Parker nine. Bergquist and Elliott each intercepted a Timberwolf pass and recovered a Timberwolf fumble.

The Timberwolves had 320 yards rushing and 66 yards passing. Cody Crowder gained 199 yards and scored three touchdowns on 30 carries. Cameron Sume completed six of 11 passes with one touchdown.

The 0-2 Mules host the 2-0 Winlock Cardinals this Friday.

"We have lots to work on, tackling and conditioning," Hansen said.

The Mules will be without three injured starters, Brandon Fudge, Brett Chaput and Zac Pierce.
