The Wahkiakum County Eagle - Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

Wahkiakum Mules Blaine Land and Brett Chaput and Naselle Comet Rob Baker returned with medals from the Class2B State Track and Field Meet last Friday and Saturday at Eastern Washington University, Cheney.

Land placed second in the discus at 118-3. She also placed fifth in the shot put at 33-4.25.

Chaput placed second in the discus at 154-02.

Baker placed seventh in the 110m hurdles at 16.36 to earn a medal. He also placed 10th in the high jump at 5-6.

Athletes finishing in eighth place or higher earned medals.

Here are the results from other Mule and Comet competitors at the state meet:

Boys 1600m: 12. Nathan Reitz N 4:47.36.

Boys 3200m: 14. Cramer Smith N 11:05.01.

400m relay: The Mule team of Joel Nicolazzi, Ryan Helms, Connar Riley and Cameron Elliott placed 13th in the preliminaries at 46.98 and didn't qualify for the finals.

Girls 3200m: 11. Katie Green 12:53.
