Sheriff’s Report

 


Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

July 11--3:17 p.m. Dispatch received notice of a fatal 2 vehicle accident on SR 4. Both the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Department and Washington State Patrol were notified and the road was closed for several hours. 5:10 p.m. A caller reported a disabled log truck on Beaver Creek Road. An officer responded.

July 12--8:30 a.m. A caller reported being threatened while fishing. The Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 10:23 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man who was having chest pain and difficulty breathing. 10:32 a.m. A caller reported that a woman on E SR 4 had indicated she was being held against her will. An officer stopped a vehicle and a person was taken into custody.

July 13--3:11 a.m. A caller reported the theft of newspapers in the Par Road/Fern Hill Road area. 7:43 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley man who was weak and confused. 10:44 p.m. A North Welcome Slough resident reported a youth who was possibly underage driving a backhoe without lights. An officer made contact. 1:10 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a 9-month-old baby who was choking.

July 14--5:09 p.m. A Beaver Creek Road resident reported finding a stripped out car on a spur road above his residence.

July 15--8:54 a.m. A caller reported that her dog had been poisoned with rat poison. 9:17 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to help a man who was having difficulty breathing. 2:45 p.m. An Irving Street resident reported that a neighbor's dog had bitten someone. An officer made contact with the dog owner who agreed to confine the dog until it would be removed from the county. 10:04 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man who had passed out.

July 16--1:03 p.m. A report was received of a vehicle driving down Main Street, which was closed for the Bald Eagle Days celebrations. 2:31 p.m. A caller reported a friend had threatened suicide on a social networking site. Officers attempted contact with no success. 5:40 p.m. A Chester Street resident reported children playing in the street had struck his vehicle. An officer responded. 9:31 p.m. A caller reported people firing fireworks at the Elochoman Marina.

July 17--7:55 a.m. A caller reported a possible theft of cedar, which was being transported to another state. An officer responded and advised that the vehicle was not to be moved without a licensed driver and a valid cedar permit. 9:14 p.m. A report was received of a tree blocking East Birnie Slough Road. The county road department was notified. 3:53 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to help a woman who was possibly having a stroke. Life Flight transferred her to a hospital.
