The annual Grays River Grange Christmas Party is planned for December 13, at our Grange Hall. We will start with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. The traditional Grange Christmas program will follow. Remember to bring a Santa gift for your child and to make sure your child’s name is clearly marked on the gift so Santa can read it. There is also a gift exchange for adults and the price of the gift should not exceed $5. The gift should be clearly marked for either male or female. You do not have to be a Grange member to come and enjoy a good old fashioned Christmas party. Please bring, if you’re able, canned food or non-perishable items that will be donated to local food banks.

During the Christmas party, we will recognize and celebrate certain Grangers landmark years of membership. Those reaching landmark years will receive pins in recognition of their years in the Grange.

The dining area in the Grange is in the process of receiving new flooring and paint which will be completed by the Christmas party. Getting the painting and floor covering completed is possible due to a $5,000 Kinsman Grant obtained by Karen Bertroch through the Appelo Archive Center. Our Grange would like to thank Karen and the Archive Center for their efforts in restoring our historic hall.

Donations continue to come in for the property cleanup. It is important to recognize our recent contributors and thank them for their support: J. Johnson, Dean Takko, Marilyn Gudmundsen, Stan Sorenson, Gloria Clark, Jack and Linda Brawn, Anita Raistakka and Robinson Brother Construction (RBS.) Not only have Robinson Brothers Construction donated time and equipment but they have also made a very generous monetary donation. Due to the unexpected cost of the nine containers, donations big and small are appreciated. We will soon start developing a parking lot and a park area.

If you need to contact the Grange, call 465-2268 and leave a message or email grange@wwest.net. Don’t forget to visit the Grange website http://graysriver.grange.wahkiakum.info.

Grays River Grange meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Dinner begins at 6:45 p.m. and the business meeting at 7:30 p.m.
