The Wahkiakum County Eagle - Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

February 13--5:05 p.m. A Fossil Creek Road resident reported his neighbors had informed him that people on his property were falsely claiming they had permission to be collecting scrap metal.

February 14--12:00noon The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a 3rd Street address to aid a 16-year-old female who had fainted. 12:10 p.m. A Fossil Creek resident reported a suspicious vehicle in the area. 5:49 p.m. A caller from Wahkiakum High School reported being assaulted by a 17-year-old female.

February 15--7:20 a.m. A caller reported a possible stolen vehicle had been dumped on a neighbor's property on SR 409. 3:56 p.m. A North Welcome Slough Road resident reported returning home to find their mother had taken a car and was driving without a license. 4:35 p.m. A North Welcome Slough Road resident reported a burglary in a vacant home that had been vandalized and stripped of wiring and breaker boxes. A deputy investigated.

February 17--1:51 p.m. A caller reported being threatened by a tenant in the Upper Naselle Road area. 3:41 p.m. A Beaver Creek Road resident reported a possible phone scam. 7:59 p.m. A caller reported an abandoned vehicle in a gulley in the Altoona-Pillar Rock and Mattson Road area that had sustained significant damage. Deputies investigated and had trouble tracking down the current owner of the vehicle after the registered owner claimed he had sold it. The Grays River fire department responded the following morning and found no one in the car.

February 18--2:08 a.m. An Elochoman Valley Road resident reported hearing shots. 3:28 p.m. A caller reported that a motorhome had hit the Puget Island bridge, leaving debris. The responsible party returned to clear up the debris and there was no damage to the bridge. 3:38 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the ferry landing to aid a man in a sailboat being towed ashore by the Ferry Wahkiakum. He was found to be suffering from hypothermia. At 4:08 p.m. deputies assisted in towing the sailboat to the Cathlamet marina. 4:52 p.m. An SR 4 resident requested a deputy's assistance with her grandson, who was believed to be using marijuana and was heading to Vista Park in Skamokawa. A deputy located the youth and charged him with possession before returning him home.

February 19--12:45 a.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to an Elochoman Valley address to aid a man who had fallen. 3:18 p.m. A West Birnie Slough Road resident reported people firing shotguns. 10:06 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 75-year-old female who had fallen. 10:40 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Clover Street address to aid an 18-year-old male who was having a focal seizure.
