A new concrete walk weaves its way through Lions Club Park in Naselle.

Metallic fish, children’s art and tiny hand prints line the path, highlighting the names of community members who have donated to the Lions Club Park Beautification Project. Led by Megan Tienhaara and Summer Johnson, both of Naselle, volunteers have been working tirelessly in preparation for the upcoming park remodel.

Home Depot has selected the Naselle community to host a Team Depot Day. To get ready for the one-day event, Tienhaara and Johnson invited families to stamp their names into the concrete on July 31 in an effort to raise money while sprucing up the grounds.

“You could decorate your own square – put a special rock in, a hand print or a drawing,” said Johnson, a teacher at Naselle-Grays River Valley School.

Volunteers also met with Team Depot to make final arrangements for the upcoming day of labor.

“The Lion’s Club is joining with Home Depot to work on the park next to Okie’s. We will have a work day today (Thursday) from 8 a.m. to about 5 p.m.,” said Tienhaara. “There will be lunch served and you can come anytime throughout the day as well. We need lots of volunteers--please spread the word. We will be painting, planting a butterfly garden, and putting in a toddler playground.”

Volunteers hope to get the job done in a single day supplying helpers with materials as well as food.

“This is coming up very quickly,” said Johnson. “Home Depot has donated thousands of dollars and will be providing 30 of their own staff to volunteer here in Naselle. We really need to show them that they made the right decision by supporting our amazing community during this event!”
