Judith Ann Zimmerman, 78, of Cathlamet, died July 29 at a Longview care center. Judy was born February 8, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Lester and Clarissa (Vail) Thomas. She graduated from high school in Detroit, Mich. and received her nursing degree from Wayne State University in Detroit. She joined the Navy in 1958 spending nine years as a Navy Nurse. While in the Navy she met the love of her life, Dave Zimmerman.

After moving to Cathlamet in 1981, Judy worked as an RN at Columbia View Care Center for 10 years and for Community Hospice Home Health Care for several years. She was a caring, kind and gentle woman, who enjoyed her family, travel, reading and singing. Judy was well loved and will be missed. In addition to Dave, she is survived by daughter Diana Zimmerman of Cathlamet; son Lee Zimmerman and wife Kym of Helena, Mont. and sister Janice Smith of Dearborn, Mich. Judy was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lydia and a sister, Pamela Parent. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday August 8 at 10 a.m. at River Of life Assembly of God Church in Cathlamet. In lieu of flowers those wishing to may donate to Alzheimers Research.
