An Evening at the Farm

to raise funds for library

The Blanche Bradley Memorial Library Foundation will host the fourth annual fund raiser on August 25 at the Stockhouse Farm on Puget Island.

An Evening at the Farm will include a selection of wines, appetizers and music by acoustical guitarist Fred Carter.

The foundation contributes funding assistance to library services such as the Summer Reading Program.

The event will run from 6 to 8 p.m. The Stockhouse Farm is located at 59 West Birnie Slough Road on Puget Island.

Tickets are available at the Bank of the Pacific or Cathlamet Realty West for a $20 suggested donation.

Rasmussen reception cancelled

Due to unforeseen events the reception planned by Redmen Hall to honor the Rasmussen Family for their gift of the adjacent parcel of land is postponed from August 25 until September 15. A plaque will be installed with accompanying map and photograph showing the land. There will be more details as the event comes closer.

Buzzard's Breath Chili Cook-off September 1

The Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Ninth Annual Labor Day "Buzzards Breath" Chili Cook-off in Cathlamet on September 1. The chamber is still looking for chili cooks to compete. Cooking starts at 10 a.m. and the public will start tasting at 1 p.m., with judging at 4 p.m.

This will be the first year that cooks can compete for state championship in the Tolbert Sanctioned division, in addition to the Home-style Chili Cook-off. There is a $15 fee for the Tolbert division, no fee for the home-style. Archive Center plans third annual swap meet

The Appelo Archives Center's third Annual Swap Meet will be held August 31 and September 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendor booths are available for $20 with a table provided or $15 for those who provide their own table.

Donated items to sell can be dropped off during open hours on Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Items can be picked up by calling or emailing the ACC.
