Family center hosting Halloween carnival

The St. James Family Center Preschool Parents Group is sponsoring the annual Halloween Carnival to raise money to donate to United Way.

The carnival will take place on October 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. Kids of all ages can participate in a costume contest, pumpkin contest, and many carnival games for the whole family. Admission is free and tickets will be sold five for a dollar or 25 cents a piece. Tickets are accepted for games, food and beverages.

Individuals or businesses wishing to help out are encouraged to contact St. James Family Center at 795-8612.

Bakers sought for

Chocolate Extravaganza

The Charlotte House is seeking bakers for their 14th Annual Chocolate Extravaganza.

Anyone who would like to volunteer to bake chocolate treats for the event can contact Shelter Manager Susan Schillios at 360-795-6401 for the details.

FOS annual meeting set for October 21

The Friends of Skamokawa will hold their annual membership meeting on October 21 at 2 p.m.

The FOS will vote on at least two new board members and one alternate. The current candidates are Mark Whitaker and Russ Durrah, with nominations being accepted from the floor. The board intends to form a committee at this meeting to revise out of date by-laws for consideration at next year's meeting.

Treasurer Kitty Speranza will give a current financial statement and the other board members will give short reports on their various responsibilities.

After the meeting there will be refreshments and a presentation by local writer Robert Pyle on his latest book -The Tangled Bank: Writings from Orion Magazine, a collection of essays from his column. Topics in the essays range from the steep fern bank east of Skamokawa to the chemistry lessons of cancer.

The meeting will run from 2 p.m. until approximately 4:30 p.m. and the hall will be closed to visitors for that time.

Celebrate harvest with Stella Chapel

Stella Chapel’s Harvest Festival will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on October 27 including food and shopping opportunities. Tickets will be sold at the door and a donation of $12 is suggested for a baked spaghetti dinner.

During supper, a silent auction will be conducted with all invited to participate. The results of the silent auction and also a special raffle will be announced at 6:15 p.m.

Tailgate with the Mules

before tomorrow's game

The Wahkiakum Mules Booster Club is holding a Tail Gate Party tomorrow (Friday) at the high school cafeteria beginning at 5:30 p.m. Members will be selling hot dogs and hamburgers prior to the Mules football game.
