T-Wolves, Ducks stop Mules

October 30, 2013

The Wahkiakum Mule volleyball team traveled to Morton/White Pass last Thursday and lost in three, 16-25, 21-25 and 22-25.

Baylee Olsen had six kills against the Timberwolves.

“We couldn’t put it together,” Coach Kayli Hurley said, while singling out Grace Peacock, who came in the game and “acted as the spark of energy that the team needed.”

On Monday, the Mules faced the league-leading Toutle Lake Ducks at home in front of a large crowd, in an important game that would have a negative effect on league standing for the loser. The Mules lost to the Ducks in three, 24-26, 20-25 and 25-27.

Olsen had 10 kills and Maya Stanley passed 2.61 average out of 3 with a total of 21 digs.

“Toutle is a really efficient team that keeps the ball off the floor,” Coach Hurley said. “Our loss in two sets in particular was a matter of two errors either way. The girls worked hard and did some great things.”

The Mules are fourth in league and Hurley believes they are scheduled to play Pacific League’s fifth seed, Ocosta next Tuesday at 5:30 at Northwest Christian. Watch the Wahkiakum Eagle’s web page, http://www.waheagle.com for updates.
